Playing Catchup

After the dr. visit

It's been a week since the last blog (bad blogger) and so much has gone on. Caroline and parents returned safely from Aunt Liana's house last Sunday. They enjoyed the trip and the chance to spend time with family and friends. While visiting, Caroline, Livi, and Lily had their pictures taken and they were so cute. I'll post for you to see soon.

Wednesday Caroline had a minor procedure done in Little Rock. She had the frenulum in her mouth clipped. (the membrane that attaches the tongue to the floor of her mouth). She is fine now except for a little soreness. When she takes her bottle, she hesitates a bit then latches on fine. She is now licking her lips and playing with her tongue. (and drooling more too!)

Happy Bday Mimi!

Mommy had to work at school yesterday so I went up for Caroline to keep me. It was a very good day! Granny and Papaw brought lunch and Caroline was THE center of attention! Yesterday was also a very special day for a very special person, Mimi had a birthday! Sorry for the late birthday wishes Mimi, hope your day was grand!

Playtime for Caroline

Caroline has been in NWAR several days visiting friends and family. She went to a phoot shoot with her cousins, Livi and Lily, spent time with Chloe and parents, and went to Livi's birthday party! I'm sure there were several shopping trips thrown in for good measure! Caroline returned home to Windy Hills today. And I'm glad too, Even though Mommy sent me pictures each day, I missed that little stinker! Thank you Mommy!

Just a bit ago, Daddy sent me a short clip of Caroline playing. I'm sure she was glad to stretch out and kick awhile after riding in her car seat for several hours! Check out the video, Caroline Gets Vocal, to the top right and listen to her jabbber!! Music to my ears!

She's A Fighter!

I was looking over the posts in the blog and found one from 7/27 that I had not posted online! Hmm, I now remember that I wrote it late one night. I didn't post because it was so late and I didn't want the Followers to get the notice on their phones! Rather than delete it with this sweet picture, I'm posting it now! Better late than never!
Mommy and Daddy had Date Night last night and Caroline kept me while they went out to dinner and a movie. I am amazed at the sounds and faces that she makes now. Oddly enough, I love diaper changes. Caroline actually enjoys them most of the time. She will laugh and coo then look at the wall above her where her name is spelled out in painted letters.

After a bottle, she will fight sleep to the bitter end. Caroline will do most anything she is capable of to keep herself awake. During this time, I perspire, no, I sweat! She doesn't cry much but she will get a little cranky. Then she will start what I call, riding her tricycle. Her tiny legs will pedal so hard that she will finally wear herself out! She went so fast last night that she rubbed one of her socks off her foot!

I took a 3 minute video of her valiant fight with Mr. Sandman. Caroline won and Precious had an M & M cookie as a consolation prize. I think a good name for this video is Getting Ready for Bed When You're Not Ready for Bed!

Sunday Sleepover

Yesterday while Daddy was playing golf, a very good friend, Trent, broke his leg in a freak accident involving a golf cart. Daddy and others loaded him up and took him to the hospital where he later had to undergo surgery.
After everything settled down, Mommy sent me a photo of Caroline and Mason, Trent's son, taking a nap on the floor this afternoon. Mommy said this would be a great photo for their year book years from now!! Best wishes to Trent for a speedy recovery and good luck to Meghan as she takes care of everyone!

Caroline's Big Day

Today was a fun family filled day! It began with all of Caroline's family attending church today for her dedication service. Matt, our favorite photographer and friend, began the service by saying some very nice things about Mommy, Daddy, and Caroline. After a brief prayer, which Caroline cried through, Matt presented Caroline with a white New Testament Bible. Now that I think about  it, she may have been saying her OWN prayer!

After services, we went to Caroline's house for sandwiches and photos. We had a wonderful time visiting together and enjoying our sweet girl before her nap time!

Rocker Chick

On our way back into town today we stopped by to see Caroline. Mommy had just finished feeding her and she was a little sleepy. I managed to hold her and talk to her before she went off to sleepytown. I'm amazed how much she has changed in just a few days. Caroline seems to be getting over her shots fairly well and is not suffering from any side effects so far.

I'm very pleased to announce that Caroline's dedication service will be this Sunday, July 24th at 10:45. She will be presented with her first Bible from the church as her family and friends support her during this very special service. Aunt Nat is even coming in the morning to visit and go to church with us Sunday. I wish Chloe were coming too but she is spending the weekend with her Granbec! (Have fun you two!! We miss you.)

After services, we are all going to Caroline's house for Sunday Sammiches. We're going to get comfy, eat a bunch, then play Please Pass the Baby!

Nasty Old Shots

Caroline is doing well after getting her first vaccinations Tuesday. Mommy reports that Caroline received three shots in one leg, one shot in the other leg, and some yucky drops to swallow. The nurse said she would be a little sore and possibly a little cranky for a few days. Bless her wittle baby heart. We went by Tuesday afternoon on our way out of town and both girls were stretched out on the sofa ... Caroline sleeping on Mommy's chest and Mommy drowzing as she enjoyed some Caroline time.

Poor Lil Baby Gurl

Caroline had a very taxing day today. It began with an 8:30 appointment at the doctor’s office for her two month weigh in. Caroline was dressed to the nines in a new pink and white outfit complete with ruffles aplenty! After a very l e n g t h y wait, they were called back to be weighed. I’m happy to report that Caroline Nicole now weighs 11 pounds 12 ounces and is 23 and a half inches tall. She ranks in the 50th percentile in her weight and 75th percentile in length. I think both Mommy and Caroline were a bit frazzled by the time they arrived home as it was a little past time for Caroline’s mid-morning meal. 

After a quick feed and good nap, she was ready for yet another appointment. Shot time. Yes, it's time for her two month shots. Can you believe it, two months already?? I haven't heard from them as of this post, 2:30, but will post an update when I get one. Caroline will be a little fussy I'm sure but....after a good nap and a stiff Tylenol chaser, she'll be herself in no time!

It's Really Quiet Now

What a good weekend this has been. Caroline and her parents stayed at our house this weekend and we SO enjoyed having them. Although Caroline was out of her element, she was very, very good. The only time we heard her was when she was hungry or had a wet diaper.

This morning we got up and went to our church with Caroline. It was a very special time for us as this is the same church that Mommy grew up in. Caroline was warmly greeted by everyone and our pastor Jason asked Mommy to formally introduce Caroline to the congregation. Caroline behaved beautifully during the message and went out only once for a diaper change! After services, we all headed to Granny and Papaw's for a fried chicken lunch that was wonderful. Deb made a coconut pie and a chocolate pie to top off the meal. We all left with plates of leftovers. Sunday lunch is always a special time spent with family. As soon as we got to our house, everyone headed to their rooms for an afternoon nap. When we got up, we enjoyed the leftovers and I will admit, they were just as good the second time as they were the first!!

Wasn't long til Mommy and Daddy started packing up to go home. Pop, Caroline, and I swang on the patio while they packed. It sure was hard to hand her over to Mommy when it was time for them to go. Hopefully Caroline will have a good night tonight back in her own criblett.

Busy Baby Girl

Caroline has been on the go the last two days! Our church hosted a fish fry yesterday so we loaded up and went out to have fish. Everything came to a standstill when Mommy walked in with Caroline. Each person there had to see her and talk to her. Caroline, being the people person that she is, granted each passerby a grin and a cute blink! Ater we finished eating, Miss Macel had enough looking at Caroline from afar so she got her in her lap as soon as she could!! Caroline was so good and never made a whimper the whole time.
Saturday was a memorable day for Caroline. She had the pleasure of meeting her great great grandmother, Pauline Risher. Caroline was such a sweet baby while we were there and Pauline seemed to enjoy watching her smile and look the room over. I took several pictures of the three so Mommy can add this occasion to Caroline's baby book. When I get copies of the picture, I'll be sure to add them for everyone to see.

Anatomy of a Nap ...Not Taken

Caroline kept me this morning while Mommy went to school to get ahead on some work for school. When Mommy left, Caroline was fast asleep. I assumed she would remain that way, all nice and tucked in for at least another hour or so. Oh nay nay. Mommy wasn't yet to school before the games began! I think Caroline was playing possum. She wasn't too fussy for a little bit but then she became serious and I began to sweat. We changed diapers, we walked, we made up a song, we sang that song, we changed another diaper then got in our bouncy seat. That seemed to help for a little while!!

       Going to Sleepytown

Mommy had some dental work done so I went to Windy Hills to watch Caroline for a while. I was so shocked at how much she has changed...and just over the course of a few days! She is making cooing sounds, laughing more, blowing bubbles and holding her head up. One of her new tricks is the passy toss - Caroline can be half asleep and pop her passy out and it will land on the other side of her criblett. Mommy said she woke the other day to passies everywhere!

Caroline is now 11 pounds 1 ounce. I'm not really sure how long she is but I'm thinking she is 24 inches for now. It's hard to tell and its even harder to get her to hold the measuring tape! She is eating well and takes pretty good naps during the day. Bedtime is a little more challenging as she is a sleep fighter. Most nights, Caroline wakes only once, maaaybe, twice. I think this is phenomenal as she is now 7 weeks old. Good job Mom and Dad!

I'm A Wheel Watcher

What better way to spend the afternoon than kickin' back on the sofa and watching Wheel of Fortune? Caroline is polishing up on her alphabet by observing a very scientific method....The Wheel!! 

Is there a M? I'd like to buy and I. Gimme a L, Jack. What about a K please? YES! What's the phrase please? MILK, IT DOES A BABE GOOD.

No need to worry about Caroline's spelling grades, between Mommy teaching and Vanna's reaching, spelling will be a whiz!!

Laughin on the Fourth

Happy Fourth to everyone, hope you are enjoying the day and staying cool! I got a message this morning from Caroline's Daddy, it was entitled, 'Laughing'.  I opened the attachment and saw that it was Caroline and Daddy fooling around. It was so sweet that I wanted everyone to see it!

Shopped Til She Dropped

Yesterday began with a first! A shopping trip. Caroline, Mommy, and I made our first all girls outing to Monroe. We were on a tight schedule so we had to make the most of our time. Caroline and I sacrificed our perusing around Target so Mommy could power shop. We stayed in the car and snoozed! After Target was shopped, we had lunch at our flavorite place, McAlister's. TJ Maxx is right beside McAlister's and well... it was just natural to dash in for a quick peep at the sales while we we were so close. Let's just say that Caroline made out like a bandit and next year she will be THE best dressed babe on Windy Hills!

We were so pooped from the shopping trip yesterday that we took it easy this morning. Caroline and I got our rocking in while Mommy took a quick walk around the neighborhood. For lunch, Mommy and Caroline went to Mimi and Papaw's house and had a yummy lunch. Caroline took Mommy home this afternoon and I'm sure both gals will sleep soundly tonight! (crossing fingers)

Milkdrunk...again!

Each day that passes, brings another smile or a new sound from Caroline. I'm so amazed at her - I can sit and watch her for hours...or as long as Mommy lets me! Some 'experts' say you can't spoil a baby, others say, oh yes you can. Personally, I think the jury is still out on that subject!
Mommy sent me some pictures today and I just had to laugh out loud! I've seen Caroline's milkdrunk look before. Every time I see it, I think of Otis Campbell on The Andy Griffith Show.

The other photo is Caroline napping in her big girl bed. Up until now, she has slept in her cribblett in Mommy and Daddy's room. She looks sooo tiny in that great big bed!

Father's Day

Today was a  memorable day for two reasons. It was Daddy's first Father's Day with Caroline and Caroline made her very first trip to church with Mommy and Daddy! Mommy said it felt like it took all morning to get herself ready then Caroline fed and ready and get to church on time. After services were over and lunch was done, it was recliner time with Caroline and Daddy!

LazyBoy Daze

Caroline and I have such a good time rocking each other in Daddy's recliner. It's just the right size for us two gals to rock the day away! We've used it so much that it has developed a squeek.  It seems to put us to sleep faster now! Funny though, Caroline always senses when the squeek stops. She gives me a little one eyed peek as if to say "Ahhh,' scuse me, you really think I'm asleep?"

After a brief wait at the doctor's office, Caroline took Mommy and me to the back so we could watch her get weighed and measured. The nurse was very nice and reported that Caroline weighs 10 lbs. and 1 oz. and she is 22 inches long! Mommy and I looked at each other with astonishment! We couldn't believe our ears! I thought on the way to the office that Caroline would be several ounces heavier but never ten pounds! The doctor checked her over and said she is doing great!! Caroline was a little trooper - she slept the entire time!   

Table For Two Please

ZZZzzzzzzzzz....

It’s been a day or two since I’ve blogged about Caroline so I thought I’d catch you up a little. Caroline is absolutely wonderful! She’s working very closely with Mommy and Daddy on a sleeping schedule that is agreeable to everyone. Hopefully it won’t be too long before Mommy and Daddy can convince little Thumbelina that nights are for sleeping! Last Saturday, Caroline’s little belly button finally peeked through so it won’t be long before she christens the bathroom as well as her parents with Johnson & Johnson's and bathwater! Caroline is getting out and enjoying some fresh air a little more each week. Yesterday she went on an outing with her friend Jack and his Mommy. Today, Caroline had her first lunch date with Mason, another very good friend. Mommy sent me a picture to document the day and from the looks of the picture… I hope their lunch went better than their conversation!!

Facetime with Caroline

We had a good time this weekend with Caroline. Saturday we laid around for the morning but had to get cleaned up and dressed for the afternoon visitors. Mimi, Papaw, and cousin Livi came by on their way home. Livi kissed Caroline and talked to her for a minute then went on to other things. Pop also ran by on his way home from the land. Then Papaw Mark and Nan dropped in on their way to the movies! Caroline enjoyed her visitors although I'm not sure she knew that we were all there! Sunday was picture day for Caroline and family. Mommy had all sorts of clothes and blankets out for Caroline to pose in for her first pictures. Mommy said Caroline did a great job but the shoot had to end when she became tired and a little fussy. I got a call later in the afternoon from Mommy and after a few tries, we figured out how to work Facetime on our iPhones. Caroline was napping but it was still fun to watch her! It's hard to believe she will be four weeks old Wednesday!



Sleepy Smurf

I went to Windy Hills yesterday to see the Bartons, mainly the Barton baby! Each time I see Caroline, I'm amazed at how much she has changed. She is beginning to fill out in her face a little more and I think there are dimples hiding in those little cheeks. Her arms are plumping up yet they are still long and lean. And her legs are just adorable. She loves to get a massage and will hold her legs out for you to rub and keep them stiff as she can, which often time causes a little air leakage in her diaper region. ( I'm sure she'll appreciate me telling that years from now!) Her eyes are open much more and actually appear a lighter blue than before. Caroline makes a variety of faces while she is asleep and it's SO much fun to watch her. One minute she looks like she'll tune up to cry then, all of a sudden she'll give you an open mouth gummy grin. Speaking of grins, she grinned today and was wide awake! No kidding! Truthfully, she could have been grinning because I left my makeup case at home and I don't think Caroline has seen me but once or twice without my spackle and paint on!!

This afternoon while Mommy went and got her hair did, Caroline got to keep me. As you can tell from the pictures, she got bored with me very quickly!

Sweet Cheeks

Caroline has changed so much in her three short weeks! Seems everyday she acquires a new expression or makes a different sound. These are two of my favorite looks that Caroline has learned. She appears deep in thought... pondering... next meal, nap, new diaper, next outfit...hmm, bow or no bow??

Sweet Shots

Even though it was sweltering Saturday, we ran a few errands just to get out of the house for a while. Caroline and I sat in the car while Mommy went into Penney's to see what Weekly Door Buster deals were going on.  Caroline slept most of the time but woke up long enough to pose in her new sunglasses that Mommy bought for her! Those uv rays are hard on a gal's eyes and we must have good vision, 20/20 at least so we can spot all the sale stickers!

After a hot sticky outing, Caroline got her Saturday bath. She did so good and was very still while Mommy soaped her up and rubbed her down. I think she's gonna love bath time! After she got good and dry and all warmed up, Mommy put Caroline  in her vibrating bouncy seat for a few minutes of winding down time... made me sleepy just watching her yawn. 

Nother Busy Day

Enough chatter, I'm tired.

What was originally planned to be a PJ Day, turned into AB Day...another busy day. Mommy's students went to the park for their last day of school sooooo, Mommy went to visit with them for a bit. Instead of doing the laundry like we should have, Caroline and I made our roost in Daddy's recliner and didn't move til Mommy returned, boy that was fun. After a quick lunch, we did a load of laundry then piled up for a short nap. Wasn't long after we woke up that a friend from church brought over dinner and stayed for a visit. Caroline couldn't keep her eyes open any longer so she drifted off to sleep again while the grown ups were talking.





BFF Chloe Comes To Visit

Last Sunday, Chloe brought her mom Natalie, and her grandmother Granbec, to see Caroline. We had the best time visiting, eating, and catching up. Caroline wasn't very social but she did pose for a few pictures with her BFF Chloe! We thank you Granbec for the goodie basket and the pumpkin bread, it was deeelicious! (and it's also gone!) Hope to visit with you again very soon!

Caroline Weighs In

This morning after I got to work, Mommy sent me the cutest picture of Caroline. The caption was, " I partied all night and now I'm pooped!"

Mommy also gave me some good news to share... our Sweet Baby Gurl has gained back up to her birth weight which is 8 lbs. and 1 oz. I'm so proud of all of the Windy Hills Lane Gang! Mommy for sticking with the program and doing a fantastic job, Daddy for being so supportive and encouraging, and Caroline... well, just for being sweet little Caroline!
